Thanks for the translation... I wonder how the tide will turn for Shiraitodai. If Awai doesnt have another trick in her sleeve it seems unlikely for Shiraitodai to be a champ
Current standings and gains/losses in this hanchan should be... 1st Rinkai: 152200 (+48900) 2nd Shiraitodai: 101400 (-49700) 3rd Achiga: 74100 (-4900) 4th Kiyosumi: 70300 (+3700)
So yes, Kiyosumi is last but nearly tied with Achiga. The point gap with Rinkai is roughly 80000 but their position has not changed much during this hanchan. Shiraitodai and Rinkai simply swapped positions. Shiraitodai has lost a lot (too much?) but there's still one potential yakuman for Takami.
Thanks for the chapter. In the next hanchan Takami will be the last dealer(after all the forshadowing). I am really looking forward to that. And I am sure Hisa will use her injured hand at least once, based on her personality.
I don't know if she will use her injured arm, but my prediction is that she'll win the final hand.
Being in a lot of pain in the middle of dealer repeating yakuman is, in and of itself, a bad wait; and on top of that, she will know all of Takami's hand as well as much of Choe's, so she starts the hand with plenty of tiles to make bad waits with.
i wonder if takami's dai san gen tiles will follow her into the next round given that the harvest did not take place successfully (i.e. what was sown has not been reaped yet lol)
I'm pretty sure it resets after the hanchan. The tiles going back into her hand in all last is her reaping them I think, regardless of if she actually wins
I feel a bit sorry for Takami, not being able to win with her ability even with 13 tiles. If she's last dealer I hope she gets to show off a bit more than 1 yakuman per 1/2 hanchan. It would be interesting to see how the others deal with her
Takami's problem this time is that the threat of winning a yakuman had almost no effect. No one in that table seem to be afraid of it. Ako was worried for a while but then in last round she realizes it's not that big a deal and takes a risk to win the hand. Maybe if Takami is last dealer, the others will take her more seriously.
No, her problem was more that despite starting the hand with an excellent iishanten due to her power, she was outsped by Ako winning a closed haneman in five turns. None of the opponents took any real risk.
There was a double risk. First, by winning dealer repeats they allowed her to collect her 13 tiles. Second, in last round, Ako should have been gathering safe tiles just in case she needs them when Takami reaches tenpai.
The more strategic (but less tile efficient) thing would be to get rid of some of her tiles. If she had gotten rid of her 7p8p on the first two turns, she could trick them into thinking she had a tanki wait and maybe Ako wouldn't have risked it that much.
Ako was so cute this chapter!! It seems like they'll be using Takami as the fall girl this time to lose a lot of Shiraitodai's points. Making Matano be the point loser twice in a row is too sad.
Not all teams put the ace at the vanguard. I don't think Satoha is meant to be the ace. All Rinkai players are meant to be super strong. Shiraitodai has Teru but this year's Rinkai is meant to be the strongest team overall, I think.

ReplyDeleteAnd if i'm not mistaken Kiyosumi is last place now?

ReplyDeleteYeah, Takami should be last dealer. I'm not sure about the Hisa part. I mean yes but oh the pain...

DeleteYes, that's what Myeonghwa was thinking. It would have been cool and it may have stopped Ako in her tracks. But maybe not Takami's style.

ReplyDeleteBut isn't Rinkai winning a bit too much?
Well Rinkai consist of World's strongest player. I even believe Nelly hadn't unleash her full potential yet...
DeleteBut Satoha is vanguard b/c she's the Ace right? Doesn't that mean the other 4 aren't even as strong as Japan's #2?

DeleteLet's go Ako!
ReplyDeleteI must say i like the girls designs in recent chapters. A proper proportions at last.
ReplyDeleteBtw, i hope Shiraitodai will have a chance to shine soon.
Thanks for the translation as always. :3
