This month, it's Toki and Achiga-hen. Shinohayu will continue next month. Magazine cover included in the Achiga file.
Is Fujishiro Nanami truly evil inside or is she just shaking up the Sera-Hiroe-Izumi relationships so they can be more honest with each other? Very few, if any, evil characters in Saki, so that's a first. Well, maybe Niemann in Shinohayu but she's an adult and we hardly know her.
The new Achiga-hen is like the manga adaptation of a future anime that may never exist. Same story but extended scenes, additional shots and normal-sized boobs!
Thanks for the chapters. Many times I think Yuuki could have won faster, if Kuro wasn't there. Her hands were delayed by 1 or 2 turns before she wins because of the dora.
ReplyDeleteYeah, often Kuro seems like she's doing nothing but her passive ability still has an effect on the other players. Teru with doras would be a sight to see.
DeleteNot having dora in your draws makes your hands faster to complete, not slower though
DeleteIs that really the case?
DeleteFirst, the red fives are very easy to use in hands. Especially losing the two red 5p makes it significantly harder to construct sequences in pinzu.
As for the normal dora, 60% of the time they're 2-8 tiles, so not having them makes completing sequences harder. 40% of the time they're terminals and honors, so not having them makes completing sequences easier. So most of the time not having access to the dora slows her opponents down.
This leads to an interesting dynamic: when the dora is 3-7 (44%), it messes up badly with the other players and makes it easy for Kuro to combine it with a red five. When it's a terminal or honor (38%), it makes it hard for Kuro to complete her hand and makes the other players faster. When it's 2/8 (18%), it slightly hampers her opponents while also being hard for her to use, so her opponents probably have a slight advantage.
And with normal mahjong tactics, having dora enables you to go for an open hand where you'd otherwise keep it closed, so in a sense just having any dora makes your hand faster, but that doesn't necessarily apply at the interhigh superpower level.
That's a very detailed explanation. Thanks.
DeleteInteresting that Achiga seem pushing Tacos as another monster player while before that, she's strong but never seem to be viewed in a really high regards that much, still a bit ironic that she end up last place even with all that then again her ability is highroll and not as consistent as the other three
ReplyDeleteI'm actually enjoy the new Nanami arc in Toki so far, Nanami seem really refreshing and different from other antagonists in the series with how evil she was, will be interesting to see her match against Teru
I guess if Tacos is judged by her performance on this round, there is no denying that she is monster-level. But that's the "peak of the wave". It's different from players who are monster-level all or most of the time.
DeleteI wish we can see Nanami vs Teru one day but probably not anytime soon.
Yeah its always hard to measuring Yuuki's strength when she's only monster in one round then underwhelming in another
DeleteI'm quite curious on how the match went since it stated that Nanami weakened Teru before her match Kainou, resulting Kainou being the interhigh who beat her so while Teru likely win the match, Nanami is probably one of her touchest opponent through her career
> Same story but extended scenes, additional shots and normal-sized boobs!
ReplyDeletethe last bit is the most important, Awai is so much better here
But fr I'm liking that little bit that Batman interrupting Yuuki
Yeah, usually normal-sized boobs are better so it's nice we have Achiga-hen now. It's a repetition of events but it has its pluses.
DeleteHow much insight Akado and Funakubo have? They should have a fairly limited set of data from Yuuki (her middle school competitions + interhigh), unlike Hisa who likely had more ways to get non-competitive data from her, so it's a bit of a surprise to see that they knew about her wave.
ReplyDeleteI thought the exact same thing! How do they know so much about Yuuki?
DeleteBut I think Ritz was trying to explain Yuuki's wave without having to use Hisa "again". So Ritz used some of the other brainy characters, that's all.
Welll, to be fair, it was shown Harue figured out how Awai and Takami' abilities work.
DeletePlus they do have the individual tournament Yuuki was in to look at. So wouldnt be a huge shock if Harue was to find something TBH.
The difference is that with most abilities, you can suspect there's a pattern once you see it happening twice or thrice.
DeleteBut Yuuki's wave needs a long range of data to figure a pattern, and now we even know that this range is about 2 months. Yuuki's tournament data (both middle and high school, individual and teams) shouldn't have that many games for someone from outside to realize this pattern.
I would disagree. Since in the individuals Yuuki played a lot of games over 2 days,so her wave can most likely be spotted, since this was also before she develiped her speed based playstyle.
DeleteSo it's still with in reason for Harue to have spotted it. FunaQ on the other hand, her data reading skilks have been shown, they aren't on Harue's level, since Harue goes over everything in precise detail, seeing as she did spot Sumire's tel, which is only somerhing you spot if you scrtunise something, on a big picture and macro level.
for the other schook the vanguard is the ace.... Yuuki was the vanguard because she was weak at math
ReplyDeleteSo...Hiroe was asked to sever her ties with Sera ?
ReplyDeleteMaybe... but Hiroe looks very disappointed with Sera even before Nanami whispers in her ear. Whatever Nanami asked her, it seems Hiroe didn't object much.
Deleteto me Sera's disappointment is because Hiroe's most important thing wasn't malefic star, and since the whole series (Saki in general not Toki) is pretty much yuri in disguise, maybe her most important thing was her relationship with Sera
DeleteYeah, I think that's pretty much what happened.
