Saki 197: Defense

Counting the first 3 chapters, which had different numeration, this is the 200th Saki chapter!

The girls on the title page (which has no relation to the rest of the chapter) appear to be the girls from Kentani High School wearing their winter uniform. Miyuki Tsubakino (left), Kozue Furuzuka (right) and the one in the background is probably Sumiko Yorifuji.

EDIT: changed the note on page 7.

  1. I remember seeing some readers worried that the finals wouldn't be very interesting because we already know a lot about all the competitors. But at least so far, that has not been the case, as we can see some nice growth from Yuuki and Kuro, and even Teru is trying something new (and we know she still has a hidden ace).

    1. Exactly, and I expect to see at least a little growth from the other Kiyosumi and Achiga characters as well. And for Teru's "hidden ace", I think we'll see some of that in the 2nd hanchan.

    2. Personally, I'm only worried about how is Ritz going to handle wrapping up whole thing. Giving satisfying finale to team tournament, then jumping to individuals - and after finishing that there's still fall tournament coming. That's two big final moments that have to feel big and final, that have to finish some character arcs, and lead to next arc in a way that doesn't feel unnecessary.

But that's still far away, and worrying that much in advance makes no sense. So until that bridge comes close, I will just be enjoying the mahjong lesbians as usual.

    3. I'm more worrying about at least decent wrap up of story backbone about Saki-Teru relation and why it is this way.

    4. exactly..
i mean, the scene with burned wheelchair is pretty intense for a yuri mahjong manga..

have we entered the weirdness level of yugioh and beyblade, where a simple children game affect someone's death? or even at yakitate level?
