Saki 267: Youkai

Youkai is a generic term for all kinds of supernatural spirits and creatures in Japanese folklore. It's often translated as ghosts, demons, monsters, etc. In this particular chapter however, is used in the sense of 'someone who doesn't seem to age or ages very slowly'. So it would be more like fairies or elves.

  1. Thank you!

I'm a little surprised to see Nodoka take "occult" advice into account. I feel like she'd be super strong if she were able to use info about her opponent into her calculations.

    1. It would be rude to flatly reject the advice so she says she'll keep it in mind but will she really follow it?
I think it might influence her choices slightly in one hand or two but still keeping with her usual logic.

    2. Kinda like the way she noted that it may be a good time to fold if the dealer calls 2 winds in the second round? That makes sense, but it would be interesting to see her power evolve.

    3. my theory is that she does take other players into consideration, but only considers their powers as a playstyle. davin flipping her tiles down can indicate a "tell" that she's trying to build an expensive hand, so it makes sense to prioritize speed.
