Meanwhile, I don’t like how Ritz keeps secretly giving Achiga new powers. I’ve disliked this since Achiga-hen, but I hoped/assumed this wouldn’t continue into the finals… and yet it has.
I suppose that’s true. It’s just that with Achiga it seems to never be foreshadowed, so it appears as deus ex machina, especially with how drastically it seems to affect their competitive ability. And it hasn’t happened just once—Achiga-hen was already full of it, and it’s still going on.
Seeing how Kuro and Shizu has to play with people with godlike powers, I feel like it's ok for them to actually get some new powers as well else for Kuro it would be just a repeat of quarter and semi, with maybe Ritz giving Kuro a lucky winning hand.
In my opinion, Shizu has the "normie power" where she can nullify to some extent the opponents' godlike power.. so technically, it's like playing normal mahjong if she ever gets a power up. lol
Seems like kuro got revenge for hanada and toki with that almost bust like life points and ippatsu riichi plus a tidbit of sitting arrangement.. 1st half, kuro sat in the right side of teru like hanada with those pon trick and 2nd half is in front of her just like toki. Me be like: that's right, champion. that's achiga's winning tile xD
Really glad that she even got a power up but it's still terrifying since the other monsters has still flashback plot powerups in their sleeves
i think i am kinda OK with how achiga was "Upgraded" in the final match. i mean, Final was suppossed to be a fest of Monster class player. if they were to play at final with their "performance level" before final match, they will be slaughtered in Fight 1.
should be noted that, the only player who got "major upgrade" were Kuro and Shizu so far (and most likely those "OP Upgrade"will only be limited to Those two). the other "upgrade" were mediocre, or simply "good" at best, not groundbreaking OP like kuro.
beside, we dont know about the drawback of kuro current playstyle, is it really no drawback at all? or she revert to "will not gain dora the entire match" state after using this moves? what if people then counter them with not discarding dora at all? knowing that dora is fatal to discard..
there are still many factors that can still be considered
Right. We don't know about the limitations of Kuro's new ability. It could be that she can only use it very rarely. She didn't use it until the second hanchan after all.
About the rest of Achiga, we haven't seen them play (in the final) yet so it's hard to say anything about any possible upgrades.
Interesting... We are approaching the end of the first match and I am liking how Kuro is also able to give a proper fight. Gotta say Rinkai is overpowered but then they have gathered the best of best in their team.
I see. I guess another match of Kuro just hoarding doras wouldn't be very exciting. In Kuro's case, a new ability is perhaps a necessary addition, as long as it doesn't break the balance of power too much.
Nice comment!

Yeah, I don't like it too much either. It would have been fine if they have stayed as they were in semifinals.
DeleteBut I don't think this is limited to Achiga. Pretty much everyone already got or will get a powerup, probably.

DeleteYes, in that respect, even with her new ability, even after winning a yakuman, Kuro is still in last place by far.

DeleteIt's Arata and Akado, but I can only see Toki and Ryuka. Will Arata also see a chibi-Akado to lend her powers during her match?
ReplyDeleteWell, if that happens it would not be a very original power-up but at least foreshadowed lol

That's a good observation about the sitting arrangement. I hadn't thought of that.
DeleteBut yeah, I don't think we have seen the last of Teru or Satoha yet. Things may get tougher for Kuro.

DeleteAnyway I'm glad you enjoyed the translation.
