It's time for another Saki / Toki double release.
A couple of small errors that Ritz pointed out in her blog have been corrected in the translation.
Also, since Saki Volume 18 is coming out in October, the manga is taking a little break to give Ritz more time to make corrections, draw special illustrations and all that jazz. Yeah, bummer I know but we are used to it by now.

ReplyDeletetoo short for my waiting.....
ReplyDeleteLittle Hiroe :D
ReplyDeleteTeru doesn't move?
ReplyDeleteThe match is far from over.
DeleteOuch, 2 months+ to wait for the next chapter. A bit disappointed that it wasn't Kuro's own ability, but still an after effect that is strong enough to overpower Teru's pre-winning control. As for Toki, it ended up being the cousin instead huh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the translation!!
Cousin? Sera calls Masae obachan which means auntie or older woman but that doesn't mean she's her real aunt. Most likely, it's just a casual way of referring to the mother of a close friend. Didn't you see the note on page 27?

DeleteI don't think that's what they meant. They probably believed FunaQ to be the other malefic star but it was in fact her cousin Hiroe. That's what I guess anyway.^^
DeleteAs for Saki, it's nice to see Teru's thoughts in a match. Given she folded, sher probably wasn't sure the 9Sou was safe, which is interesting... This match definitely has a different feeling than what we expected but come the south round, everything will change.
Oh also, "It won't let me win by tsumo" ? Is she talking about her power as if they were an entity themselves ? With the tsumo, her hand would be 2 han 30 fu for 500/1000 points + bonuses. Could that be too much to start a streak with ? But she did start a streak with a 2-han hand in semi-finals (pinfu iipeikou), was a ron though... Well, I guess I will need to wait to know what's up, huh. Thans for the translation
Oh, I see what you mean about Hiroe.
DeleteEnd tiles looked dangerous due to Yuuki's hand. If Teru thought Kuro was about to win (stopping Yuuki in the process), why take any risks? So she folded. Kuro may have won the hand but Teru comes out as a very skilled player in defense.
"It won't let me win by tsumo, huh?" She could be talking about her power or something more general, like her winning tile not coming when she needs to. Actually, upon reading it again, I think I'm gonna change it to "Why won't it let me win by tsumo here?". Same meaning but I like it better this way.
I meant Hiroe...we did discussed about the posibility of FunaQ being the last malefic...
DeleteAs for the translation, feels like the original one would sounds more like what a serious Teru would say. Just my opinion.
DeleteReread what I just typed a few times and I still cant get that Sera is the one I meant. Sorry for posting so much lol.
DeleteSo we got confirmation that Teru wasn't able to use her mirror on Kuro again. Now it remains to know if she was able to use on Satoha (which we know she played in the previous year's individuals). Considering that Teru didn't know about Sumire's tell, it's possible that her cooldown is longer than one year.
ReplyDeleteWell Teru did mention her mirror isn't almighty. Sumire's tell is either within that something she couldn't see with her shoumakyou since it's a physical habit, or each time she uses it she could only choose a limited number of things to look into and since she didn't know Sumire has a tell she didn't looked into it through her mirror. We will see if Ritz would mention that Sumire herself noticed her own tell or she relied on Teru to look into it.
DeleteWell I honestly doubt her cooldown is that long though but then there is currently no evidence to suggest otherwise iirc. Though Teru didn't look into Awai even though she had that fog suggested something, either her cooldown is more than 3-4 months depending on when Teru recruited Awai|when Awai joined or she just recently used it on Awai and thus unable to or Teru just doesn't even bother to lol.
When I read it first, I got the impression that the fog on Awai was generated by Shizuno and was latching around Awai for a while rather than being generated by Awai herself.
DeleteI had that impression due to that scene where Himeko is unable to feel Mairu, but now reading again I'm not sure whose this fog came from.
I didnt say that Awai generated the fog herself, just the reason why Teru didnt look into it. Teru did mention the fog is generated from Shizu after playing with her, which explains why Awai and Kuro has it since Shizu is helping Kuro to gain back her dragons.
DeleteThanks! Tanoshii~
