In Japanese, "ice and charcoal" is a way of saying that two people or two things oppose each other completely. Another way is "like shield and spear". In English, we would say "to be like fire and water".
This chapter is heavy on the mahjong but short on pages sadly (only 12).

Well, at least it's almost fully well-drawn, not just with borderlines, and also new releases are coming quite rapidly lately... So I'm ok if they are only 12 pages =) Thx for translations.

ReplyDeleteReading this makes me realize how symmetrical the semifinal 3rd matches were:
Red-ish haired skilled player from main team, red-ish haired ace from Osaka returning from the 2nd round, player from powerful Tokyo team not doing as well as the previous two (but showing that she will be scary in the finals), and a player from weak to strong team that gets wrecked.
Hopefully the two that got decimated will get their time to shine now.
That's interesting. Yuan might get to shine in the next chapter, I think.
DeleteAnd in this chapter Hitomi seems to discard the tile that Hiroe ponned "on purpose". She praises Hiroe for it but I think Hitomi also deserves some credit for avoiding Sera's big hand.
