Saki 155: Shouka

The title for this chapter (証果, "shouka") is a very specific, very obscure Buddhist term that means "to attain a state of enlightenment as a result of your training". It's a clear reference to Shizuno. I decided it was better to just leave it untranslated and put an explanatory note. This is a different term than the common way to say "enlightenment" in Buddhism, which is  菩提 "bodhi".

The flashback scene in this chapter was already shown (for the most part) in chapters 19 and 20 of Achiga-hen.

  5. I actually think they are overhyping Shizu a lot. Yes, she is the only person who can disable other people special abilities but it's basically it, she is not really all that strong player herself. I think that Saki, who now can play normal mahjong on a pretty decent level, wouldn't have much trouble against her. Just don't use rinshans all that much :)

    1. You should keep in mind that there are two other players at the table. I don't think it's possible for her to win with just "normal mahjong".
And Saki's playing style is far from normal, even without the rinshans...

    2. i beg to differ.
you should realize that the only one who can be categorized as supranatural powers users were either momo or Fukuji Mihoko (kana was counted as player with high luck). which means againts other player like kajiki yumi, she can only rely on her normal mahjong skill. yet achiga kan still overpowered them
