Kobayashi Ritz's blog post 20.02.25

Kobayashi Ritz has just updated her blog with more information about the return of Achiga-hen. Ritz seems rather optimistic about the monthly page production but perhaps the pressure of having to keep up with Aguri will push her to draw more pages than ever before.

As announced in this month's issue of Big Gangan, the serialization of Achiga-hen will resume.

Starting from the final match as Volume 7.

Roughly ten years ago, during meetings with the anime staff, we talked some nonsense about how it would be nice to draw the final match from the point of view of both Kiyosumi and Achiga at the same time. But since my progress with the main story is rather slow and the final was still far, it could not be implemented until now.

Since there is no need to think about new scores or new story developments, this should not take as much time. I can produce roughly 24 pages a month, even if we add the excess production intended for Aguri-sensei for a total of roughly 30 pages a month, I should be able to stay ahead or at least that's the plan.

Going at a super high pace of 80 pages a month would have been more like the old Achiga-hen, but Shinohayu is not ending yet and I really want to keep doing Shinohayu, so I imagine I can divide my time half and half. Once the final is over, Achiga-hen will go on a temporary break again.

Personally, I would really like to see the final drawn by Aguri-sensei. The issue with Awai's boobs is simply a matter of personal preference. It has no influence on the development of the story so for Achiga-hen they will stay the same size they were in the semifinal.

Just because we have Achiga-hen now, it doesn't mean that the presence of Achiga Girls' in the main story will be reduced. The main story will continue normally as the main story. In other words, the existence of Achiga-hen will not make me change my draft.

Similarly, we may see more Achiga-related flashbacks in Achiga-hen but that will be written in the draft for Achiga-hen so it will come naturally. When you compare the two, it may seem that the main story has now less flashbacks about the Achiga girls but that doesn't mean they have been reduced. It's only relative.

The spoken lines and story development will be almost the same as in the main story but the draft, the panel layout, the production,... it will feel completely different. There will be some additional scenes exclusive to Achiga-hen and some others exclusive to the main story.

To be perfectly honest, I think that those who like Achiga-hen can read only Achiga-hen until the conclusion of the final.

  1. With how Ritz was able to draw Awai flat and cow on the same page I had some hopes it would be relevant in some beautiful dumb way. Alas, it was just Ritz being beautifully dumb as always, never change.

What a weird flex to have two mangos go through the same arc at the same time, but whatever. Hope it works out and doesn't kill anyone out of overwork.

    1. Well, Aguri just confessed in a tweet that drawing Shinohayu leaves her with plenty of free time and that drawing both series should be no problem. I wouldn't be surprised if Aguri requesting more work is what triggered the revival of Achiga.

    2. >Ritz can't keep up with her deadlines
      >Aguri so bored she just asks for more work

      The Duality of Man.
In all seriousness, if that's what they planned for (with anime staff, no less. Comeback of Saki anime?), I'm not gonna say no to more content.

  2. Well let's hope that we will see all this squashed into season 3 some day.

  4. ''Personal preference''.
I wouldn't be surprised if one day all the characters (males included) will get a bust upgrade.
