Now to wonder if that 9 is based on some kind of mythical symbolism (maybe tied to the mirror?), like many other things on this manga. I love how it looks like deities have nothing better to do other than lend their powers to high schoolers playing Mahjong.
Still, no idea what the gigigi has to do with that. At least Ritz is still sticking the idea that made it into the preview in S1 of Saki where Teru had 9 lanterns behind her, hinting about her ability related to Chuuren.
Looks like Teru has some kind of link with number 9. But it could be the gigigi and Chuuren Poutou are two different things. If Teru's points keep increasing gradually she won't be getting a yakuman on her 9th win (it will be haneman at most).
Well from my perspective, the main link isn't the 9 but the lanterns instead. Since 宝燈 can be interpreted into ceremonial lantern, which ties to occult stuff similar to her Shoumakyou. The 9 is probably just Ritz using 九連 as Teru's condition to activate that ability. Might be why she changed her style to accommodate this ability. Just my opinion.
I see. I guess it's possible Teru's points jump up to yakuman level when she gets to her 9th win. Next chapter is Round 200 so Ritz may have deliberately waited for that milestone to reveal Teru's big win.
if i remember it correctly from Saki Psp, kei power is bullshit power that makes her win (or give her winning hand faster) the very next turn if she get damaged hard or get Ron'ed
It's the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Sometimes this means 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks. But yeah, Ritz skips some issues so it's more like 16 to 18 chapters a year.

ReplyDeleteMahjong is serious business in the Saki world.
DeleteWell, all I can think of is Chuuren Poutou since the kanji for Chuuren is 九連, which means nine continuous/consecutive.
ReplyDeletePretty sure i pressed Reply. Probably changed after I logged in. Anyway wasn't expecting having the need to wait one more chapter.
DeleteThanks for the translation!!

Well according to the psp or psvita, her ability activates even if she didnt get hit. It just activates if she didn't win.
Deletewait, next chapter is 1 feb, while current chapter out at 18 jan.
ReplyDeleteso its not monthly manga?
If I’m not mistaken, it’s supposed to come out every two weeks. Ritz just skips releases a bit too frequently for this to be easily remembered.

DeleteDid I just see the memory girl named?!
ReplyDeleteBut, but... I thought her name was Goldfish lol. Just kidding.
DeleteHer name is Hikari which means "light". Curious because Teru means "illuminate" or "shine".
Thank u akio,
ReplyDeleteJust wait until hikari get her debut match, maybe next year LOL 😂.
big thanks for ritz's hard work. 👍
I wonder if she'll appear when is Saki's turn to play. Watching the match from somewhere maybe.
DeleteMaybe on 9th round Teru will Kyuu Shu Kyuu Hai.. thats why Saki cant stop her. (Kidding)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a video file "Saki Fes Square Panic!". Please permit the download link.
ReplyDeleteSome Hikari hype, huh?
ReplyDeleteThx for translations :)
