Saki 190: Final

Ritz made a brief blog update to apologize once more for some of the panels on this chapter... but hey, at least we have a chapter and it's already amazing we made it this far.
After all these years, final(ly):
Saki ch190 (Mega)
Saki ch190 (Mediafire)

P.S.: notice the shape of Yuuki's pigtails...

  6. Eh...

    What's with that...

Never though this will be this big for opening play..

  7. Wow....wasn't expecting a tenhou from Yuuki, only expected multiple double riichi tsumo . And Teru's face is priceless. All hail Hisa's ingenious strategy.

    Thanks for the translation!!

    1. Yeah, I expected tenhou from Awai but not from Yuuki. Nice surprise though.

    2. And just a few chapters ago I was wondering how a Tenhou appearance would be. I already loved the first time Yuuki did a double riichi in the nationals, but this one was even better.

    3. Honestly, now that I think of it, it would be funny if Teru actually make a Chombo just to stop Yuuki's Tenhou.

    4. Now I really want Ritz to make an extra side chapter just for this joke.

    5. Haha, a Chombo joke chapter would be great. Someone send this idea to her please. And if possible, similar to the chombo in Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku where the guy just gets his tiles and shoves them in the opponent's face.

  8. OK on page 12 I thought "What ? Are you gonna put a tenhou or something ? Haha" without really thinking about it seriously and then we have double richii yeah sure... And then an actual goddamn tenhou. Whaaaaat!? It made me laugh so much. So hyped. So awaiting that in the anime. So happy the final started right away too.

  9. If Yuuki Starts with tenhou I'm sure Saki will end up with 4 kans (: Thx for translations.

Thanks as always Akio! Those opening hands were lit.

I'm not really in the loop nowadays, has there been any news at all about a new anime season? It seems like we probably have more than enough material by now.

    1. No, nothing about a new anime season sadly.

  12. I was looking at Yuuki's hand and thinking "she got these good hands and didn't even need a dora", but then I realized that Kuro is also there. Which means that her powers got restored in time, so I can hope to see Kuro purposely calling a Kan to create more Doras for herself.

    1. Yeah, well observed. The Dragonlord is back hehe

    2. I do wonder how Kuro’s powers work with kan. On the one hand, I vaguely remember that we’ve seen that kan dora do come to her. On the other hand, until the kan is actually declared, she doesn’t know which tiles are going to be kan dora, so presumably she can accidentally discard them; what happens then?

    3. Remember Achiga-hen's ending "Square Panic Serenade"? In the cute animation we see Kuro's doras glowing red. But the 6s tiles also glow red. Then Ako calls Kan and it turns out the 6s are Kan doras! Kuro's hand goes up in flames!

Maybe that's a hint that Kuro can sense what tile is going to be kandora before someone calls kan. Or maybe it's just a joke from the animators but it's a theory (not mine of course, it's an old one).

    4. yeah, I was ready to reply in the same way.
Also in Kuro no tanjobi or somewhere there I also saw Kuro having a lot of kan doras...

    5. Did everyone completely forgot the part in Achiga-hen where Teru calls a kan to both get more fu for herself and swamp Kuro down with too many dora? At least that tells us they only hurt her. It's hard to make a proper hand from 8 dora and 3 red fives!

It's hard to come up with an explanation on how her always getting the kan/ura dora works. It must come down to mahjong magic: if there's going to be kans declared or riichis won during a round, then there will also be extra dora tiles that get drawn by no other player, and also if Kuro draws them she will keep them if she plays standard. Things will work out just because.

    6. To me it feels more like what the extra doras will be is affected according to her current hand, discards and other player's hand. Well she did say that it is the doras that come to her, so there is also the posibility of her having higher chance drawing hidden kan-dora tiles, but this would have made it possible for her to accidentally throw away a hidden kan-dora. Having 2-3 stacks of 4 tiles missing from the start is also kinda weird. If there aren't any quad stack left probally will reveal a same dora. But then, this thing can be controlled by Ritz. Ura dora probably only depends on the winner's hand, not everyone.

      Well it's pure speculation.

Plot twist: Teru's hidden ability: Suukantsu. Jokes aside, hype for her revealing that.

  13. Just noticed that on the last page, you can see pencil-drawn lines that Ritz forgot to erase. I wonder what that shading on Yuuki’s right leg is supposed to be!

  14. Thank you for your hard work! Nice chapter as always. It was funny how Yuuki managed to get a yakuman to start the match (a tenhou that is).

Can't wait to see how Matsumi's following strategy will be now that she can sacrifice her dora on the last hand for a victory (same as the last hand in Achiga-hen's semi-final vanguard match). I am sure she is keeping a really nice trump card for the end.

    Good day to you!

    1. I'm glad you liked it. With such strong opponents, Kuro better have that nice trump card or she's toast.
