Saki 284: Love

The last hanchan begins. The winner of the Interhigh will be decided here. However, before that, there is a new volume release in April. As always, to give Ritz time to do all the usual pre-release work, no new chapters until then. Patience...

  1. So Saki will be the last dealer. I almost want to see her finishing the match by copying Teru's nine straight wins move.
In any case, Saki has always been at her strongest when she's having fun, like against Koromo or when she was a child, so this could be a big turning point.

    1. I may be wrong but I feel like Saki will finish the match with a huge 4 kans win. Unless she saves that for the individuals.

    2. What makes you think that? Just for good storytelling?

    3. Nothing is more Saki than suukantsu+rinshan.

  2. Thank you for the chapter!

If Awai has 7 "Killer Moves", I think she is now the record for highest number of powers, beating Shino's currently confirmed 6 (I'm counting bird rush as a single move). I wonder if we'll see all 4 of her other moves now, or if they'll wait for the individuals like with Toyone.

    1. Yeah, 7 killer moves is a big surprise. Somehow, I doubt we'll see all of them in this final but...

  3. Saki, your socks!!! You keep forgetting to take off your socks!!

Also, Awai having 7 moves is crazy cool I hope we get to see them all someday. I love that all her moves are astronomy themed! Some food for thought, 7 is a unique choice and I wonder if Ritz's intention was to reference Daichiisei (or maybe even a constellation). I am definitely overthinking it haha.

Thank you for the chapter :). I feel like for us long-time Saki followers, Ritz's hiatuses feel like an old friend.

    1. Ritz giving Awai 7 moves like the Great 7 Stars is definitely possible, even likely. Awai won that yaku a few chapters back so that's clearly on Ritz's mind.

  4. Thanks for the chapter. I wonder how many turns it took Saki to reach tenpai.

    1. that requires two turns though. from the panels, it looks like did not throw any pin tiles and she used the tile she drew immediately, so her hand is still sanankou

    2. It's a baiman, closed honitsu (3) + san anko(2) + haku(1) + rinshan stumo red 1 (3)

    3. Oh, I forgot the kan dora, maybe it'll be a sanbaiman if she gets 2 or 3 dora, and yakuman if she gets 4 kan dora from 6 pin.

  6. Funny how nodoka's breasts in the flashback are smaller than in current time, although still bigger than in the original panel form ch1. Breast growth is canon
