Nelly needs time to stockpile luck. Her only move in the first hanchan of the semifinals was towards the beginning (the 8000 point rinshan, nothing close to the end of the second), but Hoyau Kamui blocked powers until the last hand of the first hanchan, so it's not clear to me if her stockpile lasts through the end of the hanchan, or she just couldn't use it at the end of the first. I'm also expecting she'll either hit hard very soon and/or she'll go wild in the second half.
I’m confused. Nelly says Shizu can’t manipulate the starting hand so she can’t start with dora, but isn’t she manipulating Awai’s starting hand to prevent her from double riichi-ing?
Technically, Shizu doesn't manipulate the starting hands, she manipulates the wall and that, indirectly, has an effect over the starting hands. That effect is enough to, let's say, downgrade Awai's starting hand from tenpai to 1-shanten but not strong enough to load her own starting hand with doras.
All the big hitters are taking shots at each other. Nelly is also there.
ReplyDeleteI expect Nelly to get a big win before the end of the hanchan.
DeleteI wonder about it.

DeleteShizuno have ability to negate other players abilities like she did to Awai"s in semifinal. Is Nelly affected by this ability or not?
DeleteThanks for the chapter. Page 12-13 was shown in a blog post as a draft over 6 years ago. Certainly a long road to get here.
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Whoa, that's a long time.
DeleteAnd the post is from 2016 so 8 years ago. Even longer.
Thanks for the chapter.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Shizu can manipulate kan-dora, does that mean she can manipulate kan-ura too?
Good question. But the kan dora indicator is visible and kan-ura is not. I wonder if that makes a difference. Otherwise, why not just get ura dora?
DeleteStopping Awai from getting kan-ura is exactly what she did in the final hand of the semifinals.
DeleteSo its 8p
ReplyDeleteAnd Liability Payment Rule mean Pao with Ritz Open KAN local rule, right ??
Thanks for translation
yes, that's right

ReplyDeleteIf shizu's only nullify other's ability so it means it will be a battle of skill and perserverance rite?
